Weather

Mauritius experiences a hot and humid summer from December to April and cooler, drier conditions from May to November. Under the influence of the prevailing south-easterly winds, the east coast is slightly cooler and wetter than the west. The winds can bring a welcome relief to the east coast in the hottest summer months but are more blustery here in July and August. The cyclone season lasts from December to March. Although a direct hit is rare, cyclones far out at sea can bring some days of squally rain.

Mauritius holiday

Once at the crossroads of the African and Arabian trade routes, the island of Mauritius encapsulates a melting pot of cultures.

A Mauritius holiday with Abercrombie & Kent is as fascinating and diverse as the island itself.

Driving across this spectacular island you will see visions in saffron saris walking gracefully under the shade of banyan trees and Hindu temples covered in deities rising out of fields shoulder high with sugar cane. Mauritius holidays are defined by the island's hospitable people, delicious cuisine, miles of sandy beaches and array of watersports activities, making it a special place for honeymooners, couples and families seeking a relaxing beach holiday. Without doubt, Mauritius offers some of the finest hotels in the Indian Ocean.

This island of contrasts also has plenty to offer those seeking more than just pure relaxation in a Mauritius holiday.  We recommend taking the historic tea route across the island visiting plantations en route or perhaps swim with dolphins from a luxurious catamaran. If you are a little more adventurous, then why not explore the Bel Ombre Nature Park by quad bike. With a climate of warm sunshine, the occasional short sharp shower to bring out the scent of the frangipani, a diet of tropical fruits and the freshest seafood, a Mauritius holiday has all the ingredients for a wonderful experience.
