UNTAMED WILDERNESS: Humpback whale off the coast of British Columbia
Off the beaten path on a waterway far to the east of the usual shipping routes is one of the newest Canadian national parks, Fjordland.
Seldom visited and truly magnificent, Fjordland National Park is packed with wildlife. Humpback whales, wolves, deer, eagles and bear are often seen here. This area is only reachable by air or sea and is one of the finest examples of glacially gouged fiords on the British Columbia coast. Soaring peaks, dense coastal forests, dramatic waterfalls and lush river estuaries can be seen from the water.
As a contrast to the spectacular wild landscapes of Canada, we will also spend time on Vancouver Island learning about historic cultures, enjoying a dance performance by the Kwakwaka’wakw people and looking at a collection of artefacts.
