Victoria Falls

SPECTACULAR: Falls viewed from the Zimbabwean side

Twice the height of Niagra Falls, the pounding waters of Victoria Falls represent nature’s raw power and provide an alternative view of Africa - one of adventure and excitement.

The Falls can be viewed from the Zambian or Zimbabwean sides although more of the Falls are visible from Zimbabwe. The whole region has also become a centre for adventure. Adrenalin junkies can bungee from the bridge dividing the two countries, raft the white-water rapids or swing across the canyon. A more sedate activity is to cruise the Zambezi River at sunset.

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe

The town of Victoria Falls is located on the Zimbabwean side and has grown from tourism. There are some excellent craft markets for the souvenir hunter. Access to the Falls is a short walk from the town. Weaving paths take you to some incredible viewing spots, but please remember to take your waterproofs to protect you from the spray.

Livingstone, Zambia

The Zambian side of the Falls is relatively new to tourism. Above the Falls, properties have developed along the Zambezi River offering an ideal spot to relax. Walking trails lead you to the Falls although during the dry season, if the water is low enough, it is possible to walk across to Livingstone Island where David Livingstone first got a glimpse of the Falls.
