GORILLA TRACKING: Baby mountain gorilla

Uganda is known as 'the pearl of Africa' and is one of Africa's best kept secrets.

Little-visited national parks harbour plenty of game and remote corners shelter chimpanzees, shoe-billed storks and some of the world's most varied wildlife. Uganda is at the crossroads of where the West African jungles meet the East African savannahs.

BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

The chance to meet the endangered mountain gorilla is a highlight of any visit to Uganda. From your camp in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park day treks track the gorilla family groups as they forage and feed in the lush mountain landscape. Trekking can take up to seven hours in dense undergrowth but the rewards are worth it if you come face to face with one of these magnificent creatures.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II NATIONAL PARK

Between Lakes Edward and George lies the lush savannah of Queen Elizabeth II National Park. As well as buffalo and elephant it also boasts prolific bird life.

NGAMBA ISLAND CHIMPANZEE SANCTUARY
