Day 1 – London/Mexico CityDepart London Heathrow with the British Airways flight to Mexico City. Arrival transfer to the The Four Seasons Hotel for two nights.

Day 2 – Mexico City

Morning guided tour of this impressive city including the Metropolitan cathedral and the National Palace. Afternoon visit to Teotihuacan, the largest Mesoamerican site in Mexico.

Day 3 – Mexico City/Oaxaca

Morning flight to the beautiful colonial city of Oaxaca. Afternoon city tour visiting the churches, colourful markets and shady plazas. Three nights at the Camino Real.

Day 4 – Oaxaca

Visit the ruins of Mitla, capital of the Zapotec and Mixtec Empire and those of Monte Alban, perched high above the city.

Day 5 – Oaxaca

Day at leisure to relax and enjoy the town and the surrounding area. Option to enjoy a traditional cooking lesson.

Day 6 – Oaxaca/San Cristobal de las Casas

Morning flight to Tuxtla Gutierrez, where there is the opportunity to enjoy a cruise through the awe-inspiring Sumidero Canyon of the great Chiapas River. Continue by bumpy road to San Cristobal de las Casas, centre of one of Mexico’s predominantly Indian regions. Two nights at the eccentric Parador de Juan Dios.

Day 7 – San Cristobal de las Casas

Visit San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan, fascinating centres of an age-old Amerindian civilisation. Afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy San Cristobal.

Day 8 – San Cristobal/Palenque

Descend from the Chiapas highlands to Palenque, stopping en route for a possible swim in the perfect blue waters of Agua Azul, a jungle waterfall. One night at the basic yet comfortable Villa Mercedes Hotel.

Day 9 – Palenque/Campeche

Morning exploration of Mexico’s most beautiful Mayan site, Palenque, often shrouded in mist and just peeping out over the jungle canopy. Afternoon lengthy drive to the walled city of Campeche. Overnight at Hacienda Puerta Campeche.

Day 10 – Campeche/Merida

Enjoy a morning guided tour of the fantastic ruins at Uxmal, before continuing on to Merida, the colonial heart of the Yucatan. Two nights at Hacienda Xcanatun.

Day 11 – Merida

Day at leisure to enjoy the sights and sounds of Merida, the centre for hammock making, or relax at the Hacienda.

Day 12 – Merida/Riviera Maya

Morning departure for the Mayan site of Chichen Itza. Enjoy a guided tour, before continuing on to the Caribbean coast. Three nights at Esencia.

Days 13 and 14 – Riviera Maya

Relax and enjoy the discreet luxury hideaway of Esencia, a small boutique hotel hiding away on one of the Riviera Maya’s finest white beaches.

Day 15 – Riviera Maya/London

Midday flight to Mexico City to connect with the British Airways flight to London Heathrow. Arrive day 16.
