The eight passenger L’Art de Vivre started life as a Scottish munitions carrier and survived long enough to be transformed by a team of skilled craftsmen into a floating celebration of the Burgundian ‘good life’. The staterooms have a shower, toilet and basin with marble tiled floors and walls. The Pinot Noir stateroom offers a separate toilet from the shower and sink room. The L’Art de Vivre, translates as The Art of Good Living, cruises the Upper Nivernais, an undiscovered region off the beaten track on the edge of the Morvan hills. The sleepy hamlets, white grazing Charolais cattle, pastures and forests are typical of the scenery this cruise enjoys. Begin in Clamecy before continuing to Tannay, an old logging port. A visit to the Chateau of Bazoches is a delightful highlight of this cruise, along with the treasured Romanesque basilica of St Mary Magdalene at Vezelay. The cruise continues finally to Sardy and through the 16 lock flight leading to the summit of the Nivernais canal at Baye. A great journey back in time, along a magical waterway aboard L’Art de Vivre. Please note that children under the age of 12 years are not accepted unless it is a charter booking or a special family departure.
